History - Jeremiah Beeman
Jeremiah Beaman fought in the Revolutionary War as a private in Martin's Company, 2nd North Carolina Regiment. He was born 17 May 1757 in Nansemond County, Virginia (now the city of Suffolk, Virginia). He married Ruth Barrow in 1786 in Dobbs County, North Carolina. Ruth Barrow was born 19 Jun 1768 Virginia and died 19 July 1845 in Greene County, North Carolina. She was buried in North Carolina. Jeremiah died on 12 Oct 1836 in Greene County, North Carolina. Jeremiah & Ruth had 13 children: John, Miles, Edmund/Edmond, James, Noah, Jesse, Emanuel Parker, Marmaduke, Sarah, Temperance, Margaret Rhodes, Rhoda, and Hulda. His descendants went to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
NOTE: Greene County was formed from Dobbs County in 1799.
