Nathan SS Beman was the minister of the First Presbyterian Church in Troy, NY for 40 years and an ardent abolitionist. If anyone has information about that or connections to the Underground Railroad, I would love to hear about it.

Like many of you I have spent several years researching the Beaman (Beeman, Beman, Beamon, Beamond, Beaumont, etc.) family line. This research has involved countless hours crawling through U.S. Census records at LDS Family History Libraries, pouring through on-line documents (Ancestry.com and others), as well as the hire of an occasional professional genealogist able to access document repositories too far for me to travel to. As a result I have developed what I believed to be an accurate family genealogy.
My faith in that family genealogy was recently shattered when I submitted my DNA for analysis through the Genographic Project of the National Geographic Society and joined the Beeman DNA project through Family Tree DNA. My DNA was compared with another Beaman who also had developed what was belie! ved to be an accurate family genealogy, dating back to a common ancestor born about 1725.
The comparison proved we do not share this common ancestor; that speculation indicating all derivations of the Beaman name (Beeman, Beman, Beamon, Beamond, Beaumont, etc.) share a common ancestry is in error.
Please visit http://www.familytreedna.com/public/BEEMAN/default.aspx and consider submitting a DNA sample to help unravel our family genealogy. We are all at a point where we need science to prove/disprove our family research to date.

I am seeking information on a David C. Beaman who wrote a tribute to ancient waterworks. The title I have is "Where Honor Is Due." The quotation begins "Although the tomb of Moses is unknown, the traveler today slakes his thirst at the well of Jacob," and it ends with the sentence "And if any work of this generation shall rise above the deep ocean of time, we may believe that it will be neither palace nor temple, but some vast aqueduct or reservoir..."

I would like to know when it was written and for what purpose. thank you--Mary

I have a complete genealogy for my own inheritance, which includes Uriah Beaman, a United Empire Loyalist. It was given to me by Frederick Beaman, who lived in Toronto, Ontario in the 1970s and 80s. He had a much more complete genealogy of 5-10,000 Beamans, all descendants of the original 5 brothers. Unfortunately, I was not so interested in genealogy then, but now that I am, I have lost my connection to Frederick and his research. He was a descendant of Gamaliel, as I recall.
I have been to Springfield Mass where Simon (my first American ancestor) lived and there are many references to him in the town records. Last summer I went to the Kent CT town Hall to look up Thomas Beaman (Uriah's father). There is a lot of information about Thomas I and Thomas II, (Simon's son! and grandson; Uriahs father and grandfather), but not even a birth record about Uriah. I suspect that he was disowned and expunged from the town records, but I would like to know for sure. Certainly the revolutionary war was America's first Civil war and it broke up families, including those in my own line.

Harry asked about the parents of Warren Beeman (in 2006). I have a brother named Warren G.(b. 1951) and our father was Warren (b. 1927; d. 1982). Dad was born in Canandaigua, NY. His parents were George Roscoe Beeman and Marion Collver.

Someone asked about Simon and Alice Young Beeman. Someone else asked for the original Beeman, Beman, Bement, Beaumont. There were five that arrived in 1635. I saw the ship(s) lists. Some think they were brothers - others are unclear.

Alice Young's mother was Alys Young (husband John) who was the first women to be hung as a witch in Connecticut.

My name is Reuben and I am looking for more info on my dad and his family Francis Joseph Beeman. He has a brother named Ricky who has disapeared off the face of the planet who my cousin Leslie says I look like. I would like to find him. My dad was an Alaskan fisherman who died giving his life for another man. He has a brother named Mark who seems like an odd duck and a sister named Peggy and Joleen(Jolene). The Beemans in my experience seem to be a brilliant (myself included) yet stoically reserved lot. My father was somewhat of a loner when it came to his family, yet was loved or hated by everyone else, I get it. My mom thinks I am just like him which sucks because she never has alot of good to say about the man. My sisters name is Tara and my brothers name is Parker. I did not meet them till a few years ago. Ultimately only Jesus can fill the void in my life ( I have lived a life of loss and hardship, like my father before me, much at my own hands) but knowing my kin would sure help. As humans I think we all search for our identity and validation through those of like nature. If you are family call me or e mail me-503-200-8947 Reuben8er@yahoo.com

I wanted to tell all of you that tonight an amazing man by the name of Walter M Beeman passed away. Walt was a friend to all. He lived a live that most people only know as fiction in a book. He was in WWWII. Joined when he was only 16. He was ballet dancer in a proffessional troop. Not because he loved the dance so much as he loved picking up the girls. lol He was a mover. Had serveral companies. Traveled all over the world.

But if you ever asked him what was the most amazing thing about his life he would have said... My Lord, my family and my extended family. For with Walt you were never just a friend for very long... you became family. And he served those around him with a humble heart. Full of God's grace coupled with a great sense of humor.

And now that he is gone our world is all the more empty. But it is also enriched because we had the privalege of knowing him.

And lets let Walt have the last word as he always said when you asked him how he was (and now it' sreally true)...
GREAT, WONDERFUL & TERRIFFIC!
